Third Finger Left Hand

  • Preston Playhouse Market Street West Preston, England, PR1 United Kingdom (map)

By Dermot Canavan

Directed By Christine Odlum

As an extra special performance in our 90th year, Preston Drama Club are privileged to perform the UK amateur premiere of Third Finger, Left Hand. Written by our very own Dermot Canavan – a much loved and talented actor who starred in numerous plays for Preston Drama Club at The Playhouse and has gone on to have a distinguished stage career in the West End.

This award-winning play was first performed at The Edinburgh Fringe in 2004, transferring to The Theatre Royal York and then to London. In 2013 a new production of the play was performed at the Trafalgar Studios in the West End starring Imogen Stubbs and Amanda Daniels. The play has also enjoyed a very successful run in Prague from 2017 which is still running today.

About the Play:

Sisters Niamh and Grace, estranged when their mother died, reunite and reminisce over a box of old family photographs.

This is a bittersweet tale that has you laughing one moment and crying the next.

Dipping back and forth from present day to childhood, the sisters piece their childhoods together like a jigsaw, from the harshness and violence of their upbringing, growing up in Preston during the 1970s, to the exhilarating escape of the dance clubs of the emerging Northern Soul scene.

But can this trip down memory lane reconcile the sisters?
